Network Administrator

Job Description

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Network Administrator to join our IT/IS team in Ottawa, ON. Reporting to Manager, Corporate IT Operations, you will be required to implement procedures, processes and solutions in a manner to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Halogen data.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Management of local and wide area network, projects, and installation of new devices, system and on-going maintenance of infrastructure
  • Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment and devices
  • Support administration of servers and server clusters
  • Support system back-up and restores
  • Plan and supports network and computing infrastructure
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems
  • Document network problems and resolution for future reference
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning
  • Maintain compliance with software and network security
  • Update the corporate Asset Database as appropriate
  • Participate in an on call rotation for after hours support
 Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a Diploma with 3+ years experience or similar combination
  • Experience with Windows, Cisco Systems, and firewalls
  • Networking experience with Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks
  • Working knowledge of routing protocols such as RIP, BGP and OSPF
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with technologies like VLAN, VPNs and Traffic Engineering; including IP Address Management
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects t closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
  • Candidate must be a team player and be able to follow processes and procedures
  • Able to work effectively with little management supervision
  • Excellent verbal, written and problem solving skills

  • Cisco Certifications; CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CNE
  • ITIL Foundations
  • MCSE Designation
  • Red Hat Linux Certification
